EvoEnergy have recently learned that the 3.811 MWp solar array at Lyreco (the UK’s fourth largest rooftop system) has been shortlisted as a finalist in two separate awards; the 2016 Solar Power Portal & Clean Energy awards and the 2016 Energy Efficiency & Retrofit awards. In both cases, the installation – completed in January this year – is up for ‘Project of the Year’.
Funded by a power purchase agreement through Guinness Asset Management, the huge array in Shropshire has already generated over 1.5 GWh of electricity (during the period 26th January to 19th June), which is 110% of the expected system performance. The installation is also the first time ground mount technology has been used in a rooftop environment in the UK.
It is the first time that EvoEnergy have participated in the Energy Efficiency & Retrofit awards where the company are also a shortlisted finalist for ‘National Solar PV Installer of the Year’ – a brand new category introduced this year. This particular awards event is collectively incentivising and celebrating the achievements of the whole energy efficiency industry including solar, insulation and heating. The awards evening is being hosted at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham on the 16th of September.
EvoEnergy are however no strangers to the Solar Power Portal & Clean Energy awards having attended the event in 2015 as finalists for ‘Rooftop Project of the Year’ on the back of the 50 kWp installation on the summit of the iconic ‘Walkie Talkie’ building in Central London. Despite not winning the category, the judging panel did give huge praise to the technical ability demonstrated to install such a complicated project in a unique environment. The 2016 awards event this year is also being hosted at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham on the 5th October.
