What are the benefits of solar panels?
Solar panels are a great investment for the future. Not only will they help you save on energy bills and protect you against rising fuel prices, the government’s feed in tariff also means you will receive tax-free payments for the electricity you generate (regardless if you use it or not) and also for the electricity you export back to the grid.
Subject to further analysis of your company and energy usage, you could see energy bills reduce by 60% and if self-financing a system, you could produce a return of up to 14% for 20 years with the support of the feed-in tariff. We do however have suitable finance options to help companies invest in solar without the need for a large capital investment.
In addition to saving you money, as solar panels allow you to generate your own free, green electricity, you are reducing your carbon footprint. Choosing solar can be a huge step towards meeting your corporate social responsibility targets and showcase your company to the public as a positive contributor to the environment.
What factors affect my return on investment?
There are many factors that affect how well a solar panel system can work for you including location, orientation & pitch of your roof(s), and how much you currently spend on energy bills.
We will survey your building and take into account your needs to design a system bespoke to your business using our in-house technical and design team. We pride ourselves on using our unrivalled innovation and technical knowledge to present solutions that others don’t suggest to deliver maximum return on your investment. Rest assured, you are in great hands.
How do solar panels work?
A solar panel system works using a number of panels (an array), which is normally mounted on your roof. Each solar panel is made up of photovoltaic cells which are usually made of wafer-thin layers of silicon and look a bit like blue or black tiles. When daylight hits the cells it creates an electric field – the brighter the sunlight, the more electricity is produced. This direct-current (DC) electricity then flows to an inverter, which converts it into alternating-current (AC) electricity for you to use.
During the day when solar panels are generating electricity, the power will automatically feed to your machinery, appliances, lighting, etc. Any additional electricity required above what your solar panels are producing at any given time (or at night) will be taken from the grid. Similarly, as solar panels can’t store electricity, any power generated that you don’t use at the time will be exported back to the grid.
