A solar PV system will help you meet all minimum renewable energy requirements across the construction sector including PART L (of the building regulations) and the London Plan, in addition to improving your BREEAM score.
Evo Energy demonstrates market-leading design and innovation in the construction sector. We integrate renewable technology into planning with our clients. Whilst the majority of solar PV installs in the UK are retro-fits, our partnership with the construction sector results in fresh and seamless installations.
With the cost of energy technology generally self-funded and factored into the construction budget, the systems not only integrate well, but they also take full advantage of energy bill savings.
Solar panel construction for energy regulations
There are many legal requirements that apply to the construction sector surrounding renewable energy, such as PART L (of the building regulations). This demands that a new build be self-sufficient for a minimum of 10% of the consumed electricity onsite.
For construction projects within Greater London, the recently updated ‘London Plan’ takes this further. The London Plan demands that all new buildings generate a minimum of 15% of electricity demand onsite from renewable technology.
Increase your BREEAM Rating with Construction Solar Panels
Bream (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is an evaluation process which assesses the sustainability of a development. It evaluates the procurement, design, construction and operations of buildings or schemes to establish what certificate and rating it should receive.
By installing solar panels, you can increase the score of your building in many of the relevant energy categories. Collectively, these credits will have a huge impact on the overall score. This has the potential to certify your construction as outstanding for sustainability.
We’ve stamped our experience all over the construction sector. Our most notorious and logistically challenging project to date is the 50 kWp installation on the summit of one of London’s most famous buildings: the ‘Walkie Talkie’, aka 20 Fenchurch Street. This solar PV system is currently one of the highest in the UK and was installed whilst the building was still under construction.
This project involved installing a rail-less system on the glass roof. Being 160 metres above street level, three floors above the inverter and in the centre of London, this project required a unique solution. 250 panels were fitted between July and September, making it one of the highest solar arrays in the country.
