Early-day motion proposes paying property owners for energy they create.
A group of MPs has urged the government to support small-scale renewable energy by creating incentives for householders to generate their own electricity via technology such as wind turbines and solar panels.
An early-day motion, tabled by Labour MP Alan Simpson yesterday, called for the Energy Bill to be amended to include a ”feed-in” tariff scheme.
Under the proposal, property owners would be paid by local electricity suppliers for the energy created.
The motion has been supported by more than 70 MPs, as well as about 35 businesses and trade groups, including the Home Builders Federation.
