Nottingham Tennis Centre

Nottingham Tennis Centre is one of the leading venues for tennis players and spectators in the UK, so when they needed a renewables company to fit a new solar PV system they looked to the UK’s leading installer.

EvoEnergy was chosen above four other companies on Nottingham City Council’s framework for renewable energy projects that tendered for the job installing a 150 kWp solar array across two large rooftops.

The 600-panel system had to be completed above the centre’s eight indoor courts with minimal disruption to the centre’s day-to-day operations, along with the construction of a new service building near its 19 outdoor courts to house the inverters.

The tender process included a point scoring measurement for things like price and quality. EvoEnergy was deemed to offer the best overall package and won the contract to carry out the work just weeks before the centre’s biggest annual competition.

David Lawrence, Manager of Nottingham Tennis Centre, comments:

“The install went very, very smoothly. We didn’t notice them and people were still playing while all the work was all going on. When you have a roof space and it’s not being used then you might as well make the most of it.”

With the system now complete, the Tennis Centre now enjoys whole days of 100 per cent self-sufficiency between spring and autumn, especially on hot days during its summer tournaments, and it has seen its carbon footprint cut by 62 tonnes per year.

It is also a showcase renewables project for the City Council’s green credentials on one of the busiest arterial routes into Nottingham.
