No 1 Science Park

In 2011 EvoEnergy completed the installation of a Solar PV system for the roof of No.1 Nottingham Science Park which will generate enough energy to power about four family homes. It was a great project for the EvoEnergy team to be involved with; the PV system integrates beautifully into the fabric of the building, and delivers both a reduction in carbon and has a great visual impact.

The PV system size is 17.76kWp, making a CO2 saving of 7,277 kg. It is made up of 96 x 185W Sharp NU series panels. The design team at EvoEnergy decided on Sharp branded panels because they are a high quality, trustworthy brand that have proven to be reliable and deliver a great return on investment.

The occupants at the eco-friendly science building are now also able to watch exactly how much energy their office is generating due to a new energy display.

The Telewatts energy display provides a sophisticated breakdown of electricity usage by the building and its occupants. The software then allows for this usage to be directly compared with the amount of power generated by the building’s newly-fitted solar panels.

Specialist regeneration developer Blueprint, who are behind the multi award winning building, say low running costs and No.1’s green credentials are a major attraction for tenants.

The monitoring system will display real-time energy production on a large screen in the reception area.

The investment in the energy display and solar panels was funded by East Midlands Development Agency and will significantly improve the green credentials of No.1 Nottingham Science Park by reducing CO2 emissions, attracting more companies engaged in the environmental sustainability sectors, and reducing the energy costs incurred by tenants.
