EvoEnergy Install the UK’s 4th Largest Rooftop Solar PV SystemMarch 21, 2016
EvoEnergy are delighted to announce the completion of the 3.811 MWp rooftop array – which is now fully commissioned and live – installed in Telford (Shropshire) for the Global workplace solutions provider, Lyreco. The array, consisting of 13,860 panels, is the UK’s 4th largest roof mounted system – the 2nd largest on a single building.
The array is owned and operated through a 20-year power purchase agreement by Addison Energy Limited – a company funded by Guinness Asset Management’s EIS service. Lyreco are now enjoying a fully funded and maintained PV system that will save them over £53,000 every year in electricity costs, with the system generating around 3.22 GWh every year.
Furthermore, the system will also satisfy Lyreco’s primary motive by cutting their annual carbon emissions by 1,700 tonnes; making the site carbon-neutral from an electricity stand point.
It was the largest rooftop PV system to be completed in the UK in 2015 and is also the first in the country to use large central inverters more commonly used for solar farms, bringing ground mount centralised inverter technology to a rooftop installation for the first time.
The huge array took around 6 months to complete and despite working through the wettest December on record, the 10-man installation team still delivered on schedule.
The Lyreco case study can now be viewed online which details the iconic installation, supported by a professionally produced 3 minute video that was filmed throughout the installation to highlight the pressures and challenges of the project.
