It’s 3.00pm on a wet, cold and gloomy Wednesday afternoon (16th Dec) in Telford, which has been typical of the conditions experienced by the county of Shropshire over recent weeks.
However, the EvoEnergy installation team are in high spirit as this is the moment they fitted the 13,860th – and final – solar panel on what will be the UK’s 4th largest rooftop PV system once commissioned in early January 2016.
It’s a monumental occasion for the project as Evo’s installation team have battled unfavourable weather conditions high up on the rooftop since August, but still managed to complete the panelling ahead of schedule.
The two large ground mount inverters are also in place with the substation due to arrive onsite this Friday (18th Dec).
Mechanically, the PV system is almost complete however between now and early January, EvoEnergy’s technicians will be busy tackling the electrical side of the project, connecting and tidying over 100 miles of cabling by hand.
EvoEnergy’s marketing team have also taken the opportunity to document the installation via a short video, which is expected to be released towards the end of January. In the photo at the top of the page, you can see the production crew setting up their equipment to film part of the video on the rooftop when they visited the site earlier this week.
