Two major market players combine strengths
EvoEnergy, one of the country’s leading solar power companies headquartered in Nottingham, has secured investment from UK construction and civil engineering company Stepnell. The new partnership will allow the company to establish market leadership in solar energy in the UK and accelerate its growth in the ECO and Green Deal markets.
The firm, which was the Renewable Energy Association’s ‘Installer of the Year’ in 2011, has joined forces with Stepnell, a strong and innovative full service construction business which has built 20 per cent of the UK’s capacity in solar parks.
EvoEnergy has already carried out some of the country’s largest roof-top solar power installations and has fitted solar power systems to over six thousand homes across the country. Stepnell also carried out four 5MWp ground mount solar installations during 2011, making the firm one of the original ground mount solar market leaders.
Expansion and accelerated growth
EvoEnergy has been realigning with the new market and is accelerating into external wall insulation to meet growing demand from the social housing sector and is exploring other technologies to meet the rising demand for energy conservation and greener energy creation.
The move creates further jobs in the solar industry, with EvoEnergy recruiting for positions across the company, including commercial sales, business development and engineering.
“This is a fantastic move for our companies,” says Dr Kevin Hard, EvoEnergy chief executive. “The innovative and nimble business model of EvoEnergy and the strong financial position of Stepnell will allow us to strengthen our position in photovoltaics and accelerate more quickly into the energy-efficiency market.”
“Stepnell is a great fit for us and I’m looking forward to working together with the team to enhance the company’s renewable energy and energy efficiency service offering.”
Stepnell, which has its head offices in Rugby, sees great potential in the renewable energy and energy efficiency market. “Our two businesses have shared values in trust, quality, customer service and reducing their environmental impact,” says Mark Wakeford, managing director of Stepnell. “In EvoEnergy we saw committed staff working well in a part of the construction industry that we believe will be shaping the foreseeable future.
“Combining Stepnell’s expertise in contracting and refurbishment with EvoEnergy’s technical expertise in the green sector will provide real synergy to both companies allowing each to meet the coming challenges that face our customers. We are looking forward to working closely with EvoEnergy and in supporting Kevin and his team in their drive to grow the business.”
