Only 9 weeks left to install on 21p tariff
Right now the feed-in tariff can give you returns of up to 11.7%. But you’ll need to act quickly – on 1 July the rate could be reduced to as little as 13.6p.
Back in February the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) released a schedule for the gradual reduction of the feed-in tariff (FIT). It stated that, depending on the total amount of solar PV installed in March and April, the current tariff of 21p per kilowatt hour would fall to 13.6-16.5p. RPI increase sees FIT payments rise to 45.4p
As of Sunday 1 April, all customers who’ve installed panels before 3 March 2012 will see their feed-in tariff rate rise to 45.4p per kilowatt hour in line with inflation.
The price increase occurs every year and means anyone who was receiving 43.3p per kilowatt hour will now see their payments increase by 4.8%. The export tariff – paid to you for every unit of electricity you sell back to your supplier – also has also increased from 3.1p to 3.2p.
