Solar Grants Crisis

In January 2009, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) announced it was ending Phase 2 of the Low Carbon Buildings Programme (LCBP), the GBP 50m scheme aimed at not for profit and public sector buildings. No new applicants will be accepted from June 2009. The government also said that the proposed introduction of feed-in tariffs, an alternative incentive for micro-renewables that involves paying above market price to those who generate renewable energy, will not be introduced until April 2010.
