Is My Home Suitable?

The vast majority of houses in the UK are suitable for EvoEnergy’s wide range of solar panels.

Is my home suitable?
There are three key points to consider regarding suitability:

Which way does your home face?

The direction that your house faces can affect the amount of sunlight which it sees. Any panels on your roof should face in a southern direction to receive the greatest amount of sunlight throughout the day. Although the panels are most efficient when facing south they are still very efficient when east and west facing.

What is the angle of your roof?

The pitch or angle of your roof can make a difference to the amount of sunlight it will recieve throughout the day and therefore the amount of energy that can be generated. EvoEnergy cater to most roof types and your Solar Consultant can discuss your needs with you in detail. Discover the PV system options available to you.

How shaded is your roof?

Any shading on your roof area from chimneys, trees or surrounding properties will have a negative impact on the amount of energy your roof panels will be able to produce. Our consultants will work with you when planning the installation to avoid shading wherever possible. Click here now to learn more about shading.

How much electricity will my solar PV system generate?

The Government recommended method used for calculating the amount of energy a PV system will generate over a year is the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) calculation for solar PV. The SAP equation is:

Predicted Generation (kWh/year) = Irradiance x Shading factor x kWp x 0.8

It is important to note, however, that the amount of energy produced can vary over the course of a year, with more energy being produced in the summer months than in winter ones. A solar panel system has very few maintenance requirements as there are no moving parts. However, the inverter, which transforms the current which is produced by the solar panels into usable electricity, will usually need to be replaced within 25 years.  If you have free solar panels from EvoEnergy, this will be replaced for free.

Our expert Solar Consultants will be able to discuss all of these factors with you in more depth. We will outline which points may be particularly pertinent to your home and how we can work with you to build your ideal solar PV system. You can be certain that if we don’t think solar energy will work on your home we will tell you.
