Planning permission has been granted for four new solar farms in Cornwall, with a further five undergoing consultation, according to a recent BBC report.

Solar Power is a well-established source of renewable energy in other parts of the world such as southern Europe and America. In the UK there has been a sudden interest in Solar PV systems as a result of the government’s Feed-in Tariff scheme.

The new planning permission could encourage a surge of commercial solar power developments across the country and contribute to help the UK become more energy efficient.

Vickery Holman’s Head of Development Services, Greg Oldreive explains, “To benefit from the Feed-in Tariffs to the full extent you really need the farms to be connected to the grid by April 2013, so the over the next 12 months really it will be when people are going to make it or they’re not going to make it.”
