The opening of the US’s largest solar cell producing factory by SolarWorld this week is evidence of the increasing production that is being seen throughout the world.

Coupled with the global downturn that’s widely expected over the next couple of years global players such as REC are expecting a decrease in short-mid term demand.

This clear result of this will be a ‘softening’ of price, economists talk for decrease.  This is a good thing for homeowners considering doing their bit for the environment by decreasing their carbon footprint, especially with government grants remaining at current levels and the talk of feed-in tariffs finally hitting the UK.

An uptake in normal people generating power from their rooftops would certainly help the UK government reaching its ambitious renewable generation targets.
