Today Prince Charles visited the Arkwright Meadows, a Community Garden in Nottingham. The visit is part of the princes five day tour of Britain’s sustainable living projects. The visit comes a week after the Prince announced he would install 32 solar panels on the roof of his London home Clarence House; the 180-year-old Grade II listed building.
Earlier this year the Meadows won a grant for £500,000 to pay for the installation of solar panels on 55 homes, 3 primary schools and the garden itself. The grant came from the Low Carbon Communities challenge, a fund set up to encourage communities to be at the forefront of moving to a low-carbon economy. The installation of solar panels at the Meadows is a continuation of the community’s commitment to live in a more environmentally sustainable way.
In July 2010, EvoEnergy installed 12 panels at The Meadows Library, which is situated in the heart of the Meadows.
