SCHOTT to quadruple US solar panel output

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Private German solar company SCHOTT said on Wednesday it will quadruple its manufacturing of solar panels in the United States beginning in 2009.

“Demand for renewable energy in the United States is skyrocketing,” Udo Ungeheuer, chairman of the board of management of SCHOTT AG, said in a statement.

SCHOTT aims to boost its manufacturing of solar photovoltaic cells in the United States to 60 megawatts annually with a new plant.
