Hollywood actor Leonardo has said that he is taking a break from acting for a while. The A-lister says that he not only wants to relax with friends, but that he wants to continue with his environmentally friendly mission.

After filming three films in the space of two years, the star of Titanic and Inception is looking to put his feet up for a while.

DiCaprio spoke to German newspaper Bild about his hiatus from the big screen, saying that the gruelling film schedule has left him worn-out. As part of his immediate plans, the actor would like to improve the world by pressing his eco-conscious message a bit further.

"My roof is covered with solar panels. My car is electric. A normal person does not drive more than 50 kilometres (31 miles) a day. That can be done with a plug," he said.

The actor’s most recent film out in cinemas is the Quentin Tarantino directed Django Unchained, released last week. The film has already picked up Academy Award nominations in the Best Film and Best Supporting Actor categories.

DiCaprio will be once again seen on movie screens across the country in Baz Luhrmann’s adaption of The Great Gatsby later in 2013. He has also completed filming his latest collaboration with legendary director Martin Scorsese, The Wolf Of Wall Street.

In addition to trying to save the planet single-handedly, DiCaprio enjoys spending time with his friends when he is at home, and not being as serious as he is during production. His solar panelled house is the perfect location to do this.

“I take what I do very seriously when I'm on the set, that's all I focus on. So my vice is to hang out with my friends, talk about absolutely nothing of importance and act like a complete idiot,” he said.
